SUMMARY OF ROLE
The engineering manager is responsible for the engineering group within the operations organization.
Maintain and develop a team of engineers that has a skill set profile which is in alignment with the business forecast and strategic plan; can deliver projects effectively and efficiently by utilizing the available productivity tools and Emerson remote engineering centers.
Be an active member of the German PSS Operations senior management team.
PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Business:
- Participates in strategic business planning and annual budgeting processes.
- Understand market trends and Emerson’s strategic direction and executes plans to ensure that German engineering capabilities are in alignment with these.
- Work in conjunction with other members of the senior management team to ensure that the group meets its financial performance targets in compliance with Emerson’s corporate governance standards.
Operational:
- Works with the remote engineering centres to ensure a close collaboration.
- Ensures the right qualification of the engineering team to deliver the required sales support.
- Be responsible for the reporting of engineering performance and for ensuring cost recovery in accordance with plan.
- Represent the interests of German engineering in the Sales & Operations planning process.
- Support sales in the pursuit phase by presenting engineering delivery capabilities to customers.
- Responsible for ensuring engineering compliance to the Integrated Management System (HSEQ) and for promoting a continuous improvement culture within the engineering team.
- Represent the German PSS Operations Organisation at Emerson European forums
- Proactive escalation path and owner of project engineering issues
- Promote a customer oriented culture within the engineering team.
- Stay in touch with the PM group and keep the PMI certification alive.
- Other responsibilities or tasks that are within your skills and abilities, whenever reasonably instructed.
People:
- Overall leadership of the German project engineering delivery team.
- Hiring and staffing the engineering team to meet requirements of S&OP planning
- Build and Maintain strong relationship to the Project Manager group
- Build and maintain relationsships to local contractors and internal engineering sources
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Education in the area of process automation or chemical processes
- Experience in Process Automation with Control Systems
- Good knowledge about contractural and commercial aspects of projects
- Proficient PC office applications. MS Word/Excel etc.
- Good knowledge in English
